This gathering is held in honor of Pastors for Peace​, based in New York City, that has long worked throughout the country and the world to end the U.S. economic blockade of Cuba. Every ​summer​since 1992, the Pastors for Peace Friendshipment caravans have gone to Cuba. When they go, they are making a statement in purposeful defiance of U.S. laws as a matter of civil disobedience.

Venezuelan Election night streaming coverage from TeleSUR

Sunday May 20 is election day in Venezuela.  Working for regime change, the US government says it will not recognize the results of the elections.  We will be gathering Sunday May 20 observe the election night coverage from Venezuela on TeleSUR, the TV network giving good coverage of Latin America.

Also interspersed with the coverage will be some local and internationally skyped comments by Venezuelan solidarity activists.

Join us for this award-winning film detailing Costa Rica's uncommon journey, since 1948, of living without an army.  Transcending war the country has been, for nearly 70 years, an example of what a future without militarism might be for the whole world. 

Following the film, Ileana Matamoros, who grew up in Costa Rica, will lead a conversation informed by Costa Rican history and recent attempts by the US to push re-militarization in that country.
