Workers at WGBH, our local public television station, are fighting for the basic right to have a union in their workplace. Workers are members of AEEF/CWA Local 1300, and have been organized for nearly 40 years.

Budget for All Potluck & Strategy Brainstorm

Budget for All had a great Tax Day action on April 12 with 25 speakers and 160 participants, and we continue to push our State House resolutions, H.3211 and S.1750.
What comes next?   We will hold a one-time social / strategizing gathering June 2 to reconnect, brainstorm and figure out how push our agenda going forward.
We will hold a potluck supper and social time 6:30 - 7:30 followed by a brainstorm meeting 7:30 - 9:00.

Boston City Council Hearing: Stop BSL4 Research in Boston.

There will be a hearing on the Ordinance to Prohibit BSL4 Research in the Boston City Council chambers at City Hall.  The Coalition to Stop the BU Biolab is very excited that we finally have an opportunity to stop the lab.  We have three sponsors -- Charles Yancey, Tito Jackson, and Ayanna Pressley,  on record opposition to BSL4 research by the mayor, and statements of support from a majority of the Council.

Teach In: Reclaiming Our Economy

Open to Everyone — Join the Conversation!

The purpose of the Teach In is to educate and enlighten about the state of the economy, its impact on individuals and households, the reasons for the long duration of the current Great Recession, and to provide ideas about what can be done to speed economic recovery and enhance economic and social justice.

The Teach In is intended for community members of all ages and walks of life.

The Teach In is being planned by a growing group — initially made up of Northeastern faculty and students — along with partners from the community and other campuses. Faculty and student speakers are being invited from a number of universities and colleges around Boston.  Speakers will also include political, civic, community, business and labor leaders.

We invite you to come for the entire day or for portions of it if you cannot stay for the entire day. In addition, we will be live streaming the event.

Protest Thursday Against Continuation of Afghanistan War

Obama addresses troops in AfghanistanPresident Obama announced Wednesday night that 30,000 US troops will be withdrawn from Afghanistan by September 2012.   His plan will leave 70,000 fighting there, as well as NATO troops and foreign contractors.  Obama offered no new diplomatic initiatives and only a plan for continued war.
