MIT Students Against War is happy to cosponsor Stand With Kashmir’s rally this Sunday at the Harvard India Conference in protest against India's fascistic occupation of Kashmir, and in particular against Indian Consul General Sandeep Chakravorty’s call for an openly settler-colonialist project in Kashmir mirroring the “Israeli Model” in Palestine.
The Indian state has long denied the people of Kashmir their basic right to self determination, and its occupation of Kashmir has turned it into the most densely militarized zone in the world. This has only gotten worse since the Hindu-fascist Modi regime revoked the limited autonomy formerly granted to Kashmir under the Indian constitution, sent in more troops, imposed a communication blackout, and opened up Kashmir to exploitation by profit-hungry foreign capitalists. This situation demands solidarity from anyone committed to peace, justice, and nations’ right to self-determination. It is in that spirit of solidarity that we join Stand With Kashmir for their rally this Sunday.
