We finally have a new date for the Safe Communities Act hearing: Friday, January 24, starting at 11 a.m. in the Gardner Auditorium. We’ll mobilize in earnest after the holidays, but please mark your calendar, RSVP on the new form, and mark yourself as going on the new Facebook event. We also have flyers: 8.5x11" and mini-flyers.

And we’re not waiting until January to make an impact. Here are a few things you can do today:

• Share this email with your networks! If you got this as a forward from a friend, you can subscribe here to get it directly.

• Draft and submit your written testimony to the Co-Chairs of the Public Safety Committee. Please copy all members of the Committee and bcc the Coalition, as instructed in the guidance here.

• If you’re not submitting written testimony, please send an email to the Committee! It’s nicest if you write your own; click here to generate a pre-addressed email form, or...

• Use our Phone2Action tool: this version if you’ve already emailed your own legislators, or this one to reach both the committee and your legislators.

Hundreds of you have already emailed the Public Safety Committee, and it’s been noticed. Let’s keep it up!

And please continue to promote the Safe Communities campaign via social media! Follow us on Facebook and share our posts, or look out for the hashtag #SafeCommunitiesAct on Twitter and Instagram.

As always, our deep appreciation and thanks for all you’re doing for this campaign!

On behalf of the SCA Steering Committee,

Amy Grunder
Director of State Policy and Legislative Affairs
