Free and Open to the Public

Workers in India have been under increasing attack since the intensification of liberalization, privatization, and globalization policies. Successive governments, in the last few decades, have been flouting the existing labor laws and repealing minimal legal protection. Workers employed in the unorganized sector constitute more than 90% of the total workforce of 487 million in India. Contract workers in both the organized and unorganized sectors are the most vulnerable. The talk will focus on a few of the workers struggles and their achievements in the face of increased repression.
