Iran Lobby Day: Give Diplomacy a Chance!

When: Monday, June 23, 2014, 7:00 am to Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 2:00 pm
Where: Congressional Offices • Washington, DC, Boston, and Statewide

Iran claims its nuclear program is purely for peaceful purposes, but the U.S. suspects Iran of making preparations to start building a nuclear weapon in the future, and has applied sanctions to Iran’s trade.

The U.S. and Iran signed an interim nuclear agreement in November, and are negotiating a permanent deal.  But Congress risks derailing a peaceful solution to the nuclear standoff with resolutions that would interfere with the negotiations.   When a deal is agreed, we will need leaders in Congress who will advocate against war and repeal sanctions to uphold an agreement.

Congress should:

·

NOT pile on new sanctions

·

NOT try to legislate the exact terms of the permanent agreement, which would make negotiations more difficult

·

SUPPORT robust diplomacy

Join Peace Action when we visit Congressional offices on June 23-24 in both Washington and Boston!   We will advocate for peaceful  resolution of our differences with Iran.   Contact us to join the delegation!
