Jobs with Justice Annual Dinner 2011

When: Wednesday, April 6, 2011, 3:00 pm
Where: Suffolk Downs • 111 Waldemar Avenue • East Boston

For the past two years corporations have been on the attack, fighting to keep real change from happening. But workers are standing up and fighting back. From private sector workers to the building trades, from public sector workers to immigrant workers and the unemployed: they are all organizing and coming together to fight for a better future for our families, our communities, our state and our country.

Jobs With Justice has been on the front lines, fighting corporate greed and helping workers win. Here in Massachusetts, and across the country, working people are coming together, standing up and fighting for an economy that benefits Main Street, not Wall Street.

Please join Jobs with Justice as we celebrate the past year of fighting for workers' rights and look forward to a year of building a movement for economic and social justice.

We will be honoring those who are strengthening the movement for workers:

• The Shaw's warehouse workers, UFCW Local 791, and their allies for standing up and winning in tough times

• The Commonwealth CORI Coalition for promoting access to good jobs for all workers

• The Save Our Library Campaign, BPLPSA, AFSCME Local 1526, and Allies for fighting to protect vital services and the public sector workers who provide them

• The Student Immigrant Movement for leading the fight for immigrant rights

• The John O'Connor Young Organizer's Award to We Paint Our World/Pintamos Nuestro Mundo of Centro Presente for developing new leadership in the fight for workers' rights.
