Book party: "Recreating Democracy in a Globalized State" edited by Cliff DuRand and Steve Martinot, with a special perspective from Cuba

Cliff DuRand will present his new book "Recreating Democracy in a Globalized State" published by Clarity Press in 2012.  The book is a critique of neoliberal corporate globalization, and its transformation of nation-states into globalized states that serve the interests of transnational capital above the interests of their national populations.  It addresses key questions such as the role of the state, global production chains and the emergence of a transnational capitalist class.   DuRand, an expert on Cuba, has included four chapters by Cuban contributors which give a perspective from Havana on today's international system and how Cuba fits into it, including basics of the country's new economic renovation strategy.

DuRand, professor emeritus at Morgan State University in Baltimore,  is a founder of the US Radical Philosophers Association and has organized annual conferences of RPA with the University of Havana over the last 20 years.
