The conflict and violence in Syria is of deep concern and is a grave threat to peace in the Middle East.  UJP opposes any US/NATO intervention and effort to use the opportunity to promote US interests at the expense of the Syrian people.  The complexity of the situation, however, and biased, conflicting and incomplete news reports often make it difficult to understand current developments.  The forum will educate to inform effective action and the presentations will be followed by discussion.

  - historical background and contemporary context
  - origins of the conflict and principal players
  - US/NATO role and the international response
  - role of Middle East countries Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Israel, Turkey
