Audience members and panelists will also discuss ways that concerned citizens can advocate for increased nuclear power safety and security in their communities.

We will focus on key issues such as spent fuel storage, emergency planning, severe accident management planning, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) enforcement and oversight, and the findings of our recent report, The NRC and Nuclear Power Plant Safety in 2011: Living on Borrowed Time and U.S. Nuclear Power Safety One Year After Fukushima.

Dr. James McCarthy, chairman of the UCS Board of Directors will provide welcoming remarks. The evening will be moderated by Bruce Gellerman, senior correspondent/host of Public Radio International's Living on Earth.
